1. Prepare the background by painting a wash of blending colors on the paper. It’s best to use quality cardboard and watercolor paints.

You need a soft, wide brush. Use plenty of water and plenty of paint to make long colored strips that blend together slightly. Before adding each new color, wash the brush well so the colors will remain clear. Prepare several sheets of paper in this way. You may find it convenient to divide an A4 sheet of paper in two. Wait for the paint to dry out before drawing on it with a black marker or a brush.
