Lemon WEDGES in Sugar Syrup
Lemon wedges in sugar syrup – I don’t think any child would pass over these sweet vitamins in winter. My own child, who doesn’t like lemons, half-emptied a jar of this treat while she was visiting her new friend Lyuba. It’s a Russian recipe, that’s why it looked like this:
Wash several lemons well and cut them into wedges. Arrange the lemon wedges carefully, covering them with lots of sugar. Alternate sugar and lemons until the jar is full.
When you’re done, leave the jar in the fridge for a minimum of 24 hours. Shake it from time to time so the lemon juice will seep into the sugar and the sugar will sweeten the lemons. This will help your lemons keep well in the fridge for a long time – and you’ll have wonderful, vitamin-packed lemon wedges.
This is an old Russian method for making sugared lemons for tea, but my daughter loved them as they were, without the tea 🙂 You can also use them in a fruit salad.

I know the recipe from my grandma, their relatives came from former Tschechoslowakia. I hope you use biological grown lemons for your healthy drink! Happy new year from Austria! Karin
