An easy rainy-day experiment 🙂

I have often told my daughter about the Dead Sea and how I tried to dive underwater but couldn’t. The water is so salty that it pushes you to the surface. The album with my Dead Sea photos is often perused at home – “Tell me again, mommy!” But telling is one thing… and showing is something else entirely, Well… we couldn’t visit the Dead Sea right now… although I would dearly love to.

Тhis is an experiment we found in an old children’s book, “The World Around Us” (1994). We made it once… then again and again. It’s easy, it requires no special preparations whatsoever – and you can see the effect right away.

Put a raw egg (not too large) in a glass of water (or a mason jar). Add several spoonfuls of salt and stir until the solution becomes so salty that the egg floats to the surface.
