Cristmas crafts from homemade plasticine

We often prepare plasticine at home. It’s better if you apply the colour at the end of the procedure, thus you will have more different coloured plasticine from a single dose. And when it comes to winter pastimes, if you leave the plasticine uncoloured it can be used for snowmen, snowflakes or just snow.

Put in a bowl whatever you have in the kitchen – spaghetti, macaroni, beans, lentil. The kids will decorate them in their winter compositions. When they finish with the art, just put the plasticine in a box and store it for the next time. You can keep it thus several weeks.

The recipe:

• 1 cup flour
• 1/4 cup salt
• 2 sachets cream of tartar
• 1 tbsp vegetable oil
• 1 cup water
• 2 juice powder packs (STEP. etc.). They make the plasticine not only colorful, but aromatic as well! (You can use egg dyes or food coloring, too)
• You may colour the plasticine at the end, if you want to have more different colours from one dose.

Put everything on low heat and stir until the mixture thickens. Sprinkle some more flour to take it off the pot and knead it with your hands. Add flour until it stops sticking to your fingers and starts resembling real plasticine (albeit softer). Keep in a box or a plastic bag to prevent it from drying.
