FISH-SHAPED Photo Frame

Here’s a photo frame you can make for St. Nicholas’s day or as a gift to a special person.

Ours was made from clay (it took me quite long to discover the sort of clay that wouldn’t crumble and break when it’s dry), but you can also make one from salt dough. Use a glass or mason jar to cut the opening and use the cut-away clay to make the tail, the fins and the mouth.

Use pencils, wooden skewers or other shapes to decorate the fish with imprints. Leave it to dry well. Don’t forget to make a hole for hanging your frame. When it’s completely dry, color it with tempera paints (watercolors would be too transparent). Now all you have to do is choose a photo for the frame.
